If I advertise that I repair cars... in fact call myself Joe's Excellent Auto Repairs, and sell services... but then put in my literature that Joe's Excellent Auto Repairs is not an auto repair company...

What would this mean to you?

I know double taps are incorrect, but is there another way to install these surge protectors . Are there lugs that can be installed on the main breaker to accept this? Any help would be appreaciated

Good Day all. My name is Sam Kingery. I have been a member of InterNACHI since Jan. I started as a student and am taking many of the online classes to better prepare myself to become a HI. My plan is to "open the doors" in May.

A little about myself. I am 40, married with a 13 year old son. I have been a business owner since 2001. First with a business partner, then a few years ago we split the company and went our separate ways. Have been a sole proprietor since then. HI will be the first company I have started from scratch. Am nervous and excited all at the same time.

I am sure I will be asking lots of questions. I could get into alot more about myself, but this isn't a dating site. Just thought I would do a little introduction.

So I have: taken a slew of Nachi courses, purchased domain name, searching for e&o insurance, Finishing my LLC, practiced on a few homes and have been playing with HIP program.
I am anxious to get inspecting, but would feel better if I tagged along with an experienced inspector. I want every one of my inspections to be worth the price.
How did you all handle your first inspection?
Did you worry about shortchanging your first client?
Anybody dare take a newbie on an inspection in the Denver metro area?
If you are busy, I may be able to accelerate your inspections and help you make more money!
Don't worry about me becoming your competition; I think the non-Nachi members might have to worry though...

Hi again gentlemen, here is my thought, Mike made a valid point with his link to an approved pvc drain line. If it was me, I would check the line, chances are that if the pvc line is threaded on one end it is an approved line. If it has a threaded adaptor attached chances are it is not approved. Again, local code will always prevail, and if you don't live there you won't know.

Hey fellas, I'm just about to get my business off the ground and wanted to get a general Idea from everybody about the "MUST HAVE" tools in my bag. I think I have most of the essentials,however, I still need a couple of items,I think,(maybe more?). As I am on a limited start-up budget, I will not be purchasing the high-end tools/gadgets until I can afford to do so, and still buy groceries...with that being said, I haven't yet purchased a CO meter/gas sniffer,I'm thinking these would be considered essential? Let me know what you guys think. Thanks in advance for any input!.:D

Did a Wind Mitigation inspection today and the guy said that the door and windows were impact rated. I took photos of the labels but I can not find any information that either are impact rated.

The sticker on the door seems to be for an energy star rating and the on on the widows shows an FBC approval but I couldn't find anything about an impact rating.

Can one of you who see this stuff all the time (I almost never deal with impact rated doors or windows) tell me if I am missing something?

Why is there a distance requirement between ground rods

Anyone interested in an onsite commercial inspection course, please add your name and contact information in this thread or email us at dale@nacbi.com so we can email you what the course will entail when we have all the bells and whistles figured out to a "T" in the next few weeks ahead.

We haven't figured out how many days the course will be yet, we believe the course will take about 4-5 days to complete actual onsite training to gain all the knowledge and understanding necessary to jumpstart a successful commercial property (PCA) inspection company.

If you're a Internachi member you will receive a discount for the course. We plan on having the first course in Boulder or Denver, a major hub accessible by all major airlines easily.

Are intentions are to make this the best learning experience one could ever find now or in the future. There will be the best instructors and other specialists-professionals in many very important trades available at the course.

I will post more information about commercial course content in the following weeks ahead, hopefully this onsite commercial training course will come to fruition in the next couple months if everything comes together as planned.

Nick Gromicko, Dale Duffy, Bill Warner, any many others will be there to help everyone in every aspect possible. Many licensed contractors I hire personally for inspections will also be there so you will understand how to organize-implement and proceed with commercial inspections.

Additionally, how to document-place sub-contractor findings-information in the PCR, and hundreds of other items to get you started on the right track to make some really serious money in the future.

This will be a great event, never before put together like we plan. We intend to make this a wow factor you'll never forget.

Please post below if interested, also, please just post whether you're interested, we will get into the particulars in the near future, then I will start another thread to give more details, we just need to know how many people are interested at the moment so we know what size building(s) to have available for the actual inspections.
